Time: 18:15 to 19:30 Cost: £45 Location: Studio Thirty This two-week somatic course enhances health and well-being and is suitable for people of all ages, abilities, and health conditions. Modern living, wrong posture, mental health issues, various health conditions and lack of exercise can all contribute to back pain and tension along the spine, making this practical course a valuable tool for relief and prevention. Would you like to relieve tension, aches, and pains in your shoulders, neck, and lower back while improving flexibility and freedom of movement? Somatic exercises support overall health by increasing flexibility, easing joint movement, and promoting relaxation in muscle tissues around the tensest areas of the spine, neck, and lower back—common issues in modern life. These techniques also help improve breathing, support the nervous system, and reduce stress. Somatic exercises are simple, gentle, and accessible to everyone. They offer a relaxing way to improve health and well-being. How Does It Work? Chronic or acute pain, tension, tight body tissues, and some autoimmune conditions can result from a lack of connection with the body and a reduced ability to feel and control movement. Somatic techniques, such as gentle, repetitive movements, help the brain and body reconnect. This learning process, called “sensory-motor learning,” uses small, rhythmic movements to release tension in tight body areas. Over time, these exercises increase self-awareness, relieve pain, and enhance overall well-being. 
A significant benefit of somatic work is stress reduction: as the body learns to release tension, stress levels also drop, creating a positive cycle of relaxation and relief. Course Outline Laurent will guide you through somatic movements, breathwork, and meditation each week to relieve tension and build awareness in key spine areas. Week 1 – Reducing Neck and Shoulder Tension Week 2 – Supporting Lower Back Health How to Prepare During each session, you will be guided through simple movements while seated in a chair or on the floor. Please wear loose, comfortable, and warm clothing. Laurent Roure is a senior yoga teacher and trainer with expertise in yoga therapy for mental health, respiratory issues, breathwork, and cancer support.
